Exploring the Northern Lights: A Celebratory Anniversary Expedition

On October 7th, 2024, I started with all excitement, fuelled by a KP index of 7 and visibility of 8-10%. We headed north of Shelburne, ON, eager to witness the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the skies were cloudy and rain was pouring, leaving us disappointed.

But hope was not lost! On October 10th, the forecast promised clear skies, so we decided to give it another shot. We set out for Belwood Conservation Area, and this time, luck was on our side. We were greeted with stunning displays of the aurora borealis, the vibrant colors lighting up the night sky.

The experience was truly unforgettable, especially since we captured our anniversary picture with the aurora as our backdrop. It was a magical moment, one that we'll cherish forever. Here’s to chasing the Northern Lights and creating beautiful memories!
